indieGO! OS basic information

The latest release of indieGO! OS for the Odroid is XU4indiego_OS_11_06_2016
This is what you will find also on the first delivered indieGO's.

I am already working on an update which can be fetched from the console.

When you power it on you will se the indieGO! Menu. We will call it early boot menu from now on.

Included Front-Ends:
Emulation Station
Attract Mode
XBMC Rom Selector

And you can also choose and run a pre-selection of games and emulators form the "early boot menu".

1. Early boot menu
The early boot menu is based on our Fullscreen launcher. (short FSL)
You can change the Wallpaper if you like. FSL is located in /home/odroid/FSLauncher
You will find editable text config files. You can exchange the wallpaper imager by another. You overwrite the existing one should be the easiest way.

--> An updated Early boot menu will follow with the next update
The new version allows submenu's.
For now it will just run another FSL when you choose sub categories like "Kickstarter Goodies" or "Installed games".
This new version will make it seamless.

The Menu offers many options.. just scroll down.. the list may be longer than it seems.

A few options in Main menu:
Emulation Station -> runs EmulationStation
Attract mode -> runs Attract mode
Force PSX -> executes an inserted CD-ROM as Playstation game
Force CD32 -> executes an inserted CD-ROM as Amiga CD32 game
update -> updates the console
Thank you demo -> executes the Kickstarter backer celebration demo
eject -> expects the cd-rom (there is also an eject button on the drive)
shut-down -> shut down the console
desktop- mode -> exits to the desktop
Installed games -> shows installed natively ported games (some require additional game-data)
DOS-Games -> shows DOS-games
... and more

2. Setting up language
You can set up the language for the desktop which will apply to Applications and some games as well.
Some games or Menus/Frontends will stay english and have there own setup for this. Please check the manuals in the Threads related to each front-end.

You can setup the language for the Desktop when you attach a mouse. Move up with your mouse cursor to the top of the screen. A task bar will appear, where you can click on "SYSTEM"
Than choose "ControlCenter". Just change the options for "Language".

3. Setting up internet /wifi
If you have connected an Ethernet cable to your router before powering on the console, the OS will try to establish a connection automatically via DHCP.
It should just work : )

For wifi you can try to move up with your mouse cursor (yep for now a mouse and keyboard is required, will change in the future*) to the top of the screen. A task bar will appear, where you can click on the left icon (Network). The you will see a list of available wifi-networks. Click on yours and add the Wifi passphrase.

*Those with a wireless Keyboard /Touchpad combo can now be happy :smile:
We will write an option menu for joypads asap.
